I recently just started doing the same thing for both fishing and bow hunting. It comes in handy recording what presentations worked for fishing and what the exact weather conditions/locations were. It’s also neat to look back and remember the specific trips and outings. Years later it’ll be a neat thing to look back on.

This is great….I’ve been wanting to find something similar, especially since I’m just starting out on the fly fishing adventure that I hope to be on for the rest of my life…I would love down the road to have something like ^Walt^ where I could look back over 40+ years of fishing notes…

I recently picked up one of these. It’s a little more structured than the Rite in the Rain journals, but also has room for free form notes. It might be an acceptable alternative to what you’re looking for.

I’ve been able to maintain a Journal fairly consistently since 1970, and now, at a fairly old age, I find it useful to look back now and then and see how I’ve been able to forge a “career” as an outdoor writer through that maintainance. I agree that the outdoor journal is a very useful tool and highly recommend its use by people sensitive to the world in which we live.
