Yep, that’s exactly what happens, they tend to fold together. I’ll try building up a base, but with winter coming soon maybe it will have to wait until next summer. Winter for me is fishing soft hackles. There’s just something satisfying about catching a trout on a fly tied with thread and one feather, nothing else.

One thing about those legs that I’ve learned through trial and error is to build up a base with either thread or dubbing. Trying to tighten legs into a crevice of the foam causes them to fold up on each other. That is usually my biggest problem. I don’t know if that makes sense or was even if it was what you were talking about but either way, thanks again for stopping in and the kind words.
