I’m a fan of your blog from Iowa and owner since the winter of 2011 of this jacket in gray. I bought it at a web-site price of $119 shortly after it’s launch. I was surprised it wasn’t targeted to fly fishers. It’s a nice jacket. I single roll the cuffs, because of velcro closure issues. Andy

Thanks for the kind words Mike. Cabela’s has the capability of putting out really nice gear and total crap. The stuff I usually post here is what I have found to be the former. Any time in the field can quickly pinpoint whether it’s a winner or loser. I do like this jacket, but understand what you mean about velcro. Did the article mention what they are going to be replacing velcro with? Thanks for the kind words.

I’ve always liked the better cabela’s stuff.
anyways, I was reading an interesting article about the evolution of outdoor gear. shells got a big piece of attention. one thing I noted…velcro is being fazed out. about time, says I. velcro is guaranteed to do one thing in its lifetime. Fail.

prolly won’t surprise ya, but I’m a sucker for a nice jacket.
