It would depend on how many you shoot. I have fit a full limit of quail (15 birds) plus water and a long sleeve shirt in the pouch. Quail are much smaller than ducks but I think you should be good for 5 or 6 birds. The nice thing about Cabela’s is that you can send it back if you are not happy, but I think for small game and birds this vest is great.

I’m so going to get one for the upcoming duck season!!! It’s got room for all the things I tend to carry on a side sling bag….which is not very comfortable!

Ben would the game pouches be applicable for ducks?

That’s real nice of you to say Ivan, thank you. I hope these gear reviews can continue to be a midweek staple on the site. Thanks for the encouragement.

I have to agree with kari. I appreciate the fact that you are not reviewing new stuff that you have used once or twice. While I don’t have a use for such a vest right now, I find your reviews to easy to read and very informative. keep it up.

Thanks Al. This vest has taken a beating but still hold up well like you said. Glad you felt the same way as me about those jacket straps. Overall a good vest though. Thanks for stopping by and weighing in.

Thanks for the kind words. It has been fun to look through my closet and write about the gear that works well. Thanks again.

I have that same brown color. Since I usually hunt alone, I like not having all that orange on when I’m bird hunting.

The vest could be a bit lighter, and it’s pretty hot in warm weather. Maybe someday I might get one that has the jacket straps you described, or even water bottle pockets. But this one does the job. And it’s still not quite wearing out!

They’re very easy to read and point out all the finer points of the items. Well done!
