There’s not much to really say as the photos do most of the talking. I left home at 2:30 and met Antonio before heading up north. We hiked in early and found some willing fish to rise to foamy hoppers. Things are definitely slowing down from a few weeks ago and I think the high temperatures have something to do with it. All the same, we were blessed to find a few beefy fish to rise. I’m still sore and my sunburn is still a bit touchy, but I’m already thinking about the next time.
Awesome
Thanks MojaveJohn.
Big browns, dry flies, mountain creek – blog post appropriately titled. Stellar.
Thanks Kirk. It was a slice of heaven for sure.
Great brown trout! On big foam flies too– what a blast.
Thanks Brian.
Great post. Just wondering: do you hike out in wet wading boots, or do you pack in a dry pair for the return?
Thanks Ryan. I wear a pair of Korker Hyjacks (http://azwanderings.com/rambling-review-korkers-hyjack-wading-shoes/). I am currently on my second pair and have found them to last about a year. Typically I hike in the Klygon rubber sole and then switch to a felt when I’m at the creek. I ordered them in my size and wear a pair of socks inside. My feet are wet all day and so by the time I’m at the truck and take off the boots, my feet are white and pruney. Although the end result is not pleasant, I’ve found them to be the best bet for me. Hope that helps.

Thanks Ricky, I appreciate the kind words
Taking a trip to Arizona and was wondering if you could share a general location where you caught the wonderful trout.
Northern Arizona…That’s the best I can do Mitch.

Are you still fiahing these waters? If so how are the fish populations doing?
