San Juan Fly Tying: Chocolate Foam Emerger

Chocolate Foam Emerger

Continuing on a tour through my Altoid box of San Juan flies is another classic that everyone I talked to made sure would be in my box. I tied up these Chocolate Foam Emergers in size #20-24, and I am crossing my fingers that these will do the trick.

It’s a great little bug and real simple to tie. Let me know how they work.

I absolutely slayed the SJ trout on chocolates on my solo trip there a couple of years ago. I tandem rigged them with princess nymphs and it was a killer combination. Great fly, great post.

Nice. I caught one on the foam-back but I stuck more with the KF emerger on this trip. Seemed to really be the ticket for midge emergers. I’m going to have to check out the princess nymph. Thanks.
